Help with FableFlight

For approved adults trying the restricted preview. Use fictional stories and learner accounts only. Real children, schools and live payments are not enabled.

Saving your writing

Choose Save story and wait for a saved revision number. Typing alone does not save. Keep the tab open until the save is confirmed.

If a save cannot be confirmed, keep your draft on the page and retry the same change. A temporary error does not prove the save failed. Do not reload or sign out first: that can lose unsaved writing.

In the adult editor, Download text saves the title and text currently in the editor, including unsaved changes, to your device. It does not save the online story. In the learner editor, Download draft checks permission before saving the current title and words to your device. Under-13 downloads start off: choose Ask for this download, then ask your parent to review the matching request reference. Choose Check approval and then Download file after approval. Editing the draft needs approval for the changed file. If your sign-in ends or permission cannot be checked, keep the page open to preserve unsaved writing.

Parents can open Group login pages, manage a permitted learner and expand Download permissions. Approve or decline a specific request, revoke it, or allow ongoing downloads. A specific approval lasts up to 24 hours and applies only to that exact file. Teens can download their own work without parent approval. For a student in a class, a verified parent or guardian can open Student sharing and downloads, select the student and review Download permissions. Class management alone does not grant this authority. Only reviewed relationships appear; these controls do not open the student’s private story collection.

In the learner story list, Download saved collection prepares numbered JSON files containing saved stories, Trash and retained versions. Unsaved drafts and other account records are excluded. Prepare a part, then check its download permission; under-13 learners need approval for that file or ongoing permission. After downloading it, prepare the next part. Keep every part from the same snapshot. Preparation can be paused and resumed while the page stays open. If saved stories change during preparation, restart and replace earlier parts.

A downloaded file remains on the device and may be accessible to others. Turning downloads off cannot remove existing copies or prevent copying visible words or taking screenshots.

Earlier versions & Trash

Open a saved story and choose Revision history (adult) or Saved versions (learner). Viewing an older version does not change your draft. Adults choose Use this version as my draft, then Save story to create a new revision. Replacing an unsaved draft asks for confirmation; earlier saved versions remain available. Learners can select a saved version and choose Download this version; its filename includes the revision number. This leaves the current draft unchanged. Learner revision downloads use the same permission checks as drafts.

Moving a story to Trash keeps its saved versions. Open Trash to restore it when your plan has room. Trash is not permanent deletion, and it does not remove an authorized supervisor’s access.

Invitations & suggestions

Open a saved story and choose Invite a reader. Enter the recipient’s exact email address. There is no user directory, and the sending result does not tell you whether that address already has an account. Only approved preview recipients are currently supported.

Invitations are read-only by default. Select Allow suggestions to let the recipient propose changes for your review. Select Allow direct editing only if you want them to save changes directly to your story without waiting for your approval. Earlier versions remain in revision history. These permissions are separate; existing invitations keep their original permissions.

The recipient opens the email link, signs in with the account whose verified contact email received it, and chooses Accept and read story. To return later, open Shared with me. If suggestions are allowed, choose Suggest changes, send the complete proposed version, and use Check my suggestions to see its status.

With direct editing permission, the recipient can open the shared story, choose Edit this story, then Save shared story. If someone saved a newer version first, the draft stays on screen: choose Check latest version and compare before continuing. If a save cannot be confirmed, keep the tab open and choose Retry same save; do not create a replacement save. If editing access ends, copy any unsaved draft before leaving.

As the owner, open the story and choose Story suggestions. Preview a proposal, then accept it as a new revision or decline it. Acceptance keeps earlier versions in Revision history. Review decisions do not currently send email notifications.

If your saved story changed after a proposal was written, it cannot overwrite the newer version. The recipient can reopen the current story and propose again. If sending cannot be confirmed, use the same retry action; it checks the original submission. Keep unsent writing safe before leaving the page.

To remove access, return to Invite a reader, find the invitation and choose Withdraw invitation, then confirm. This also stops further suggestions through that invitation. Other invitations must be withdrawn separately. Withdrawing access cannot recall copies someone already kept.

To pause all outgoing sharing, open Invite a reader and choose Pause sharing for my account. Confirming stops future reads through your grants. Turning sharing back on can restore access through invitations that have not expired or been withdrawn. Copies already read or downloaded cannot be recalled.

Invitation links expire within 24 hours. Accepted access lasts up to 30 days, may end sooner with the preview, and includes future saved versions. Who can see shared and group information.

Sign-in & recovery

Adults use their original sign-in name and password. Changing your contact email does not change that sign-in name. If you forgot your password, use the password-reset option on the sign-in form. If an authenticator is already enabled, signing in can still ask for its code.

Lost your authenticator? Use the recovery option and a saved recovery code. Recovery signs out existing sessions and temporarily locks the writing space. Never send anyone your password, authenticator code or recovery codes.

Fictional learners use their group’s public sign-in link and their group username. A username does not need an email address and is unique within that group. Ask the adult managing the test group for the link or a password reset. Independent sign-in is a separate, restricted test flow and is disabled outside fictional test windows. When that flow is enabled for an authorized test, use Use a recovery code on the independent-account page with one of its saved codes. A successful reset replaces the password and ends existing independent sessions. The group password and an adult’s recovery codes cannot recover an independent account. Under Account security, Sign out other devices ends other independent sessions while keeping the current device signed in; someone who knows the password can still sign in again.

Family & group setup

Sign in with your approved adult account, then choose My groups or open Group login pages. My groups opens a separate tab so your writing stays open.

  1. Under Create a login page, choose Family or Class or school group and enter a page name. Use a fictional name, such as maple-family. The public address will be /groups/maple-family.
  2. Choose Create login page. You can upload a background image; it will be public when you publish the page. Do not use a real learner's photo or personal information.
  3. Enter a Fictional learner label and choose Request learner setup. This needs operator review; it does not immediately create a learner. Use Refresh requests and available setups to check. If the result is uncertain, use Retry same setup request instead of submitting a second request.
  4. Once a setup is available, select the approved learner, choose a username unique within this group and choose Create learner account. Open the learner's management controls, set a password and enable the learner and supervised writing where permitted.
  5. Choose Publish login page, then open its public link in a separate browser profile to test the fictional learner's username and password. Write, save, reload and reopen a story. Back in the adult account, use View learner stories where permitted to check supervision.

If a setup is awaiting review or no permitted learners appear, contact support with the group page name and fictional setup label. Do not send passwords. An old approval does not guarantee current permission. Creating or paying for a group does not itself grant access to learner stories.

To invite another approved adult, use Invite an adult in a family group and enter their exact email address and your invitation display name. Joining alone does not grant learner, story or billing access. Page-settings and background permissions are assigned separately. The invited adult keeps their own story allowance. Restricted registration still applies; an invitation does not bypass it. For separately reviewed story access, follow Co-parent supervision.

Unpublishing hides the public login page; it is not the same as disabling a learner. To stop a learner's sign-in and end their sessions, use Disable learner and end sessions. Renaming a group requires sharing its new link; the previous address stops working.

Co-parent supervision

In this restricted preview, another approved adult can receive read-only access to a fictional learner’s supervised saved writing. Family membership, separate guardian review and the primary adult’s permission are all required. An invitation alone gives no story access.

  1. In the family’s management page, use Invite an adult. The invited adult opens the email and accepts. If the invitation list still says it is awaiting a response, choose Refresh invitations.
  2. As the primary adult, manage the learner and expand Co-parent supervision. Choose Check invited adults, then check supervision for that adult. Under Guardian review requests, choose Check review requests before Request guardian review. The family login page must be published and the learner enabled. This saves a manual review request; it does not approve a guardian or grant stories. Check here after reloading for a decision, or withdraw a pending request. For a private follow-up, contact support with the displayed request reference. Do not send passwords, codes or real child information.
  3. After a recorded approval, choose Check current permission. Only when review is current can you choose Allow read-only supervision. An old approval may have expired or been replaced. A declined or withdrawn request grants nothing; do not create another invitation to bypass review. Review is manual and needs operator availability.
  4. As the joined adult, open My groups and choose Refresh joined groups if needed. Under the family, choose Check learner supervision, select the learner and open a saved story. View saved versions opens earlier revisions; Learner Trash shows retained trashed stories.
  5. To end this optional access, the primary adult checks the learner’s permission and chooses Remove read-only supervision. Removing the family member, or their leaving, also ends it. The primary adult can still choose Check invited adults, then Review history for that former member to check earlier requests or withdraw one that is pending. A new review request requires a current membership. The joined adult can choose Refresh stories or Refresh supervised learners to check current access.

This permission excludes private stories, writing changes, passwords, downloads, sharing, billing and onward delegation. Removing it does not itself revoke a reviewed guardian relationship; contact support for that review. Access changes cannot recall words already read or copied.

If a permission change cannot be confirmed, keep the page open and use Retry same permission change or Check current permission. If the change was confirmed but its following refresh failed, check current permission before sending another change.

Plans & family limits

Open My plan to check your plan and refresh billing status. Checkout uses Stripe’s sandbox: use test payment details only.

The Family allowance is 300 active stories shared by the parent and learners, including the parent’s family groups. Adding learners does not multiply the allowance. Trash frees a slot; restoring a story uses one. Reducing a plan does not delete existing stories or remove otherwise-authorized reading access.

Two-step verification can wait until after checkout. Paid accounts have a seven-day setup period; the account-security screen shows what is required for your account.

Account & privacy requests

Open Account security for password, email, session, recovery and account controls. Deactivating an account is different from requesting deletion.

Use Privacy requests to request access, correction or deletion and check its state. After changing your contact email, sign in again. If a pending correction request shows Confirm correction request, use it to confirm that the request still applies. This returns it for review; it does not mean the correction is completed.

For an eligible open access request, or a deletion request with a prior-copy option, Download sign-in profile downloads your sign-in profile and factor settings. It does not contain authenticator secrets or sign-in event history. If the request is withdrawn, the download is no longer available.

An available download covers its named contents; it does not mean the whole request is fulfilled. Learner records require separate review. Owning a group or paying for a plan does not by itself grant access to a learner’s records.

Reporting a problem

Automatic support-email forwarding and private request forms stop at the development deadline. After that time, email delivery to the operator is not confirmed. Data preservation does not keep these services open. Operator contact details include a postal address and telephone number. Check the preview operating window.
